We are offering several types of programs. During
summer we will offer early morning classes.
Our year round
core program features sessions once a week for different age and ability
groups. This way young goalkeepers have time to learn new techniques
and apply them in team practice and games.
Q. How does
the program work.
A. You decide when your keeper can attend sessions. If you have a game
or are on vacation, you don't attend. Obviously the best results are
achieved with consistent practice. We do ask that you let us know each
week if you will or will not attend. [You want
me to tell you if I can't be there, don't you?]
Q. Do we have
to sign a contract.
A. No. We work on the honor system. The fee is $25 a session paid each
session, this fee also applies to the initial evaluation session.
Q. How do keepers
new to the program fit in.
A. We have an evaluation/introduction session where we determine, based
on ability, size and dexterity which group the keeper should practice
with. This session introduces the new keeper to our methods and soccer
vocabulary so they fit right in during their regular sessions. This
session is a concentrated learning session as well, and includes all
facets of the game. The intensity of this session allows us to evaluate
the new keeper's ability to absorb new material. This knowledge allows
us to tailor the most effective program for each individual we train.
Q. What do we
have to bring to each session.
A. Seasonally appropriate clothing, which always includes some sort
of long pants. In the summer that can be wind breaker type pants. Keepers
will dive many more times in one of our sessions than in a team practice,
so we are very careful about injury prevention. You should always bring
water, goalkeeper gloves and jersey. A light jacket and a change of
clothes in the car are also a good idea.
Q. Who is is
this program best suited for?
A. Any goalkeeper who wants steady improvement and to stay sharp.
Club programs
Clubs that have
a larger number of teams can set up two different kinds of programs.
I can coach all their keepers on a specific night or I can do a number
of sessions for them on specific days or evenings. I recommend a minimum
of 8 to 10 sessions because it takes that long to assimilate new skills
and to change [bad] habits.
All goalkeepers
new to Safe Hands Goalkeeping will be evaluated and placed
in the program best suited for their ability level. Our classes are
mixed gender, based on ability. The cost for each session is $25 paid
per session.
With summer vacation
here there will be changes and additions to the programs being offered.
Stand by for new postings or call Willi at 206-285-5808 for the latest
information.
When you are interested in joining one of these classes, please call
(206) 285-5808 to confirm time and availability.
Our philosopy is
to make each goalkeeper successful and in that way to keep them
interested in soccer for the rest of their life. Call us, we can work
out a program for
one or for all your goalkeepers.
